What Do You Want?

     Jesus asked people what they wanted or what they sought from Him. I've always pondered that question and so I would answer Him this way:
 
     I want to continue with Him. I want MORE. I want to live Jesus, breathe Him. I want to be desperate for His Word. I want to know Him for just knowing HIM - not just for being wise in scriptures - not for knowing more than other people.

     I want to know His character, His ways, His purposes for me. I want to be obedient to Him, to His will and not mine. I want to want what He wants!

     Jesus said "Come and see". I want to go, not wait for Him to come to me. He didn't say I'll show you the way, I have to come to Him. This means leave where I am. Leave safe, forgo ordinary, quit mediocrity. Stop being lazy in the discipline to pursue hard after Him. No more distractions allowing sameness.

     COME - He says - leave discouragement, make a move toward Him.

     SEE - look beyond the circumstances that never seem to change.

     Then........I want others to come and see what I've seen. I want to give His hope, His love, to lonely, hopeless, searching people.

     I want to live walking beside Jesus, as if He were indeed right here, and talk with Him and listen to Him, and he would reveal Himself to me daily. And He does. He has given me His Spirit. Let me always listen.

Loving The Sinner

I've always heard that we must hate the sin and love the sinner. Ok, that's easy to do as long as that sin hasn't affected you. In those cases, it gets a bit harder - a drunk driver kills your child, for instance.  Love is not the same thing as tolerance. I love because Christ loved me. I tolerate because I'm told I have to. Love is a choice I can make because I realize Holy God loved me first. God doesn't tolerate sin. When my children disobeyed, it wasn't tolerated.   I cannot say to God, ok God, I'm going to go my way and live in sin until I'm ready to quit. The Mother

     Honest blogging right here, but I'm not writing it for sympathy or understanding or out of malice. So don't shoot me. And don't get me wrong, I am not bashing my mother. It's just because the generation I came up in was "different" from today and some of our parents didn't show affection or say I love you like we hear often today.  Perhaps they weren't taught......just didn't know how. I don't know.      Mother grew up poor, and so she worked hard to have things. Her dad, "Pop" to us, was a hard, quiet man and her mother died when I was 5 so I didn't know her and never was told anything about her, another trait of their generation - we don't talk about things, period.       I have no recollection of being hugged or kissed or told I was loved. I realize now that I have a lot of that in me too, and I have to work hard to show love. I feel like I don't do it well.  It was all about work, mother and Daddy both worked

Love Fail

This year God is trying to get me to comprehend love. To love like Him. I cannot. I fail. But He hasn't given up on me. He keeps putting those unlovelies before me saying - "I love them, I want you to love them too". But God......this one drives me bonkers! But God......this one is using me!  But God......this one is so obnoxious! But Suzanne......"I sent My Son to die for you, right?" He died for 'them' too. Oh. So, I'm trying; my actions are a bit ahead of my heart motives, but I shall not give up. Even when I plain don't want to love that one. Even when it's so easy to ignore God's prompting to give a touch from Him. Even when I turn inwardly selfish and want to isolate....... I will push on, I will lean in, I will press on.....to love.
