Dust Off The God Box

Oops, we have forgotten who God is and decided we want to be God instead. We like the love and grace parts, when we need Him, and put Him on a shelf in a box when we are fine. A little box on a back shelf collecting dust. After all, this is America, the land of the free - bounty - self-sufficiency. How is that wrong, it's all about me and my rights, right?

But God is Sovereign and Holy and my response should be obedience. Sovereignty means possessing ultimate power, absolute authority, unlimited, unrestricted. God has the right to do whatever He wants. See Psalm 115:3

There was a problem then and a problem now according to Judges 17:6, in those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes. The book was Judges - God will be the ultimate Judge according to what we do with His authority. Psalm 96: 13...for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with truth.

One of His commandments is do not murder. Do not take life. Why?  Because God gives it and He takes it away. Any other choice is saying that He is not God at all but we are. God is Holy and Worthy, He is Life and Peace, Grace and Truth, Power and Love.

But He is also Judge and Ruler, King and Salvation, Righteous and Avenger, Wrath and Justice. God is not mocked and we will reap what we sow. I don't know about you, but I choose to strive to be obedient and holy. Ephesians 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.

When doubts of this world come, let us seek counsel from the Bible that is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and the God who is Eternal, the only wise King, who gives and takes away.
I make many mistakes, God makes none.
